god the whole kde drama was so stupid, after kde made a thread addressing it and at the end said something like "and if you don't like our decisions go try a different software" and there were a bunch of dickheads going "oh look the just go fork it argument" and it's like, no, that's not what they said, that's not what they meant, other desktop environments already fucking exist, people have made them, you can switch, you don't need to fork kde you fool, you absolute simpleton
things like this where you start calling them a nazi bar off a single thing, barely let them get a word in the discussion, and then once they do manage to actually address it all you twist their words are why open source Devs go become farmers and never look back and also why the entire open source community looks like a massive group of knobheads to literally everyone else
ah yes join the community who will start being just horrible to you from a single misstep, the community that already look like a group of elitists who will get pissed if you use any video editing software not made by some random transgender furry 12 years ago and doesn't have half the features you need to actually use the damn thing, a UI that makes you want to puke, and a user manual that doesn't explain most of its features, and if you complain about that you will get told to just contribute to the project to make it better, but when told by a project to maybe switch to another if they hate the project that much will start complaining about it. spend months of your life contributing to a project that'll get torn apart by the wolves because one guy suggested putting AI into it, sounds like such an amazing proposition
